Director: Eda Romankovics, Dramaturg: Bori Sebők
Premier: 2014.

The "Drama of the Reminiscence" is a complex theatre, drama, and fine arts project for high school students. The main goal of this project was to re-establish the framework of social memory through personal (individual and community) experiences and creation.

In the spring of 2013, Kava launched a series of programs called "The Drama of Reminiscence", which produced four theatrical performances in parallel. The project treats episodes of Hungarian history with high school students from several points of view. The theatrical plays have created new knowledge with participants, not about history, but about remembering as social actions. We had historical, social themes: Trianon (Blank Sheet), Holocaust (The Compensation), Agent Affairs (The Report), Murder against Roma people (The Statue).

At the social level, the Holocaust is one of the untreated traumas of Hungarian history, and until now a true and healthy memory culture has not developed. Prohibition of remembrance: from silence to denial of the Holocaust, prohibition of forgetting: the re-traumatizing remembrance and the trauma of the perpetrators and victims are still present in the different scenes of our society, are still permeating, shaping the Hungarians' thinking and relationship with the Jews. An important question in the context of the Holocaust is whether a healthy balance of forgetfulness and remembrance can be created that does not traumatize, yet still allows us to face the stories of the past openly, without repression?

The main character of the story is 18-year-old Andris who shoots a film based on his personal family story. The film is about her grandmother and when Andris has to realize Grandma's personal Holocaust story. We work with our high school guests to find out what our family stories mean to us, how family history can become part of our identity.
