The Puppets [Bábok]
ARS (The Participant's Theatre) project and it is made by the Kava Theatre Association. The story is based on the drama of G. Büchner: Leonce and Lena. The theatrical performances in the session were based on Georg Büchner's texts and improvisations by the band.
Director: Miklós Tóth
Premier: 2008.

The theme of this project is the freedom and compromises. In the case of freedom, the actor-drama teachers and the participating young people are thinking together about responsibility, duties, rules and expectations. The focus of the program is: What are you capable of doing to suit the requirements of the others?

Stage design of 'The Puppets' at the beginning

At the beginning, the stage and costume design of this story were spectacular and colourful. After a short time, this colourful design disturbed the interpretation of the meaning because it was too much to the story. This change is ordinary and it occurs many times at the history of ARS theatre pieces: the interaction with participants has forced a change in stage and costume design. In these pictures, you can see the first version of the plans. At the below of this text, you can see the changes: just the grass -the symbol of the freedom- and the suit -the symbol of the compromises and responsibility- remained at the stage. And only one question: whether the prince is willing to wear the jacket?
